Air Alert: 3 months later

19 purple thingies and a green plank

This was an experiment that started 3 months ago and is continually on the back of my mind. I’ve hacked away at it haphazardly but it’s been fun feeling that burn in my legs that I haven’t had in years. As a result, my first step is a bit quicker and my game time endurance is a better. But still no dunk.

In the process, I found that it’ll stress the weakest part of my body. Whether it’s a weak core (yup), less than strong knees (1 surgically repaired), or weak ankles (yup and yup), I found that I was hitting a plateau until these areas were addressed and working properly together. It probably doesn’t do any good to jump on shaky objects either (video below).

One day I’ll proudly be able to capture and post about a legitamite dunk. Until then…the quest continues.

yes, it’s not a true vertical test…i didn’t have a chance to gather final metrics, I’ll do that as soon as I’m back from HK!

Candy Cane Lane: Poway Edition

Candy Cane Lane [Poway]: Hickory Court, Hickory Street – off Twin Peaks Road and Silverset St, Dec. 3 through Jan.1, 6 to 9 pm.

After hearing some pretty positive reviews from people who have been before, I decided to check out Poway’s Candy Cane Lane with anybody who wanted to come along.

Had a pretty good turn out. I took a few more pictures but I really I don’t want to ruin the experience for you all. For me there’s always a sense of wonder when I see lights, music, and smiles. All we’re missing is some snow! But I guess I should beware for what I wish for.

There is a crowd here on Saturday but it’s not too bad when you walk the streets. I must admit there wasn’t quite one house that really stood out but the sheer number of houses that decorate and go beyond the normal call of duty is really awesome! A highly recommended spot to check out these next few weeks!

We decided to emulate a tradition we heard some of our Poway resident friends doing and headed over to Denny’s to cap off the night. Well, unfortunately that’s the last of xmas light decorations I’ll be able to enjoy this year. So until next year….enjoy!

A father/sons project that started out small but grew over the years. Both of the family’s sons are autistic and have a connection to bright lights and music. This is a really touching display and you can sit in your car and listen to the synchronized music on FM 89.7 while you’re there.

Thanksgiving & Black Friday Shopping

Of the multitude of things I am thankful for this is by far the most superficial. I hope over the course of this blog you get the sense that I have much to be thankful for and much to thank God for.

HOWEVER, this still has to be said.

My mom is an avid shopper, but until tonight she had never seen the likes of Black Friday shopping. We decided to let her experience this madness first hand. Midnight at Macys.

I am so thankful that my mom is of sound mind and reason trumps the desire for savings. We walked in, people watched, stood in line for a few minutes to get a sense of the rush and walked out feeling pretty good about having nothing in our hands. I hope they all realized they could have gotten the same deals online with free shipping.

Happy shoppings everyone!

diversion sound: Studio Sessions & EP Promo

Heyo! New promo up for Diversion Sound, a band whose EP drops real soon. A while back they successfully funded a kickstarter project and if anybody had pledged $300, they’d do a personalized youtube song for them…they got 2 of them! I wonder what songs it’ll be…and if we’ll get to enjoy them as well.

Anyways, for now, judging by their facebook updates, DS is pretty busy wrapping up the mixing and mastering of their EP. I really like their sound and particularly “Overwhelmed” which is the song used in this video here. Really look forward to enjoying the rest of their album.

G’luck guys!

**update**

They are now called “Finding Francis”, harking back to the name of their radio show back in college. More information and songs, check out www.facebook.com/findingfrancis
