Project Resonate’s Chiyori.A returns Home

A dear friend of mine spent the past year abroad working with orphans and local churches. I had the opportunity to support her and visit for a few days last year as we filmed a few video segments and a creative peace. It seemed like just last month that we had collaborated on our video “Trust“before she left and now in less than 8 days she’s coming back!

Check out her blog as she chronicles her experiences over the past year. It’s incredible the work she’s done over there and as she spends her last few days and prepares to come home, she contemplates on the real meaning of “home”.

We also had the opportunity to catch up and through her sharing her experiences it really painted a picture of both her struggles and her triumphs. Below are a the web episodes we filmed over the course of 3 days.

Episode 1: Welcome!

Episode 2: Cooking

Episode 3: Living

Episode 4: My lil Friend!

Episode 5: Orphanage

Austin L: Resonating in East Asia

A few friends are heading out this morning to China to see God’s heart for Asia. Check out Austin’s video and keep him and his team in your prayers!

Notes:

For this video, I tried to emulate a guy whose work I really really admire. He’s stationed out in Dubai (recently it looks like he’s in Australia) and the stuff he does for his church is stunning. I took the idea off one of his church news video spots and tried to recreate a similar feel.

The artist’s name is Salomon Ligthelm and his work speaks for itself. The techniques, the color gradients, so beautiful…yet I don’t recall him mentioning formal schooling or training. His blog has references to him having to render on crummy laptops and wait over night before making a quick edit and rending for another 6-7 hours. Then uploading his final work over cafe wifi cause he doesn’t have internet at home. So inspiring!

Check out a clip of his…I won’t feel bad if you never want to watch my stuff again.

Project Resonate: Chiyori.A – Trust

This project began with a different intended focus. A few months ago, Chiyo came back from China (her last video here) and we wanted to convey what she had seen and heard in her travels there. In our concept planning stages a different story began to emerge.

As we began brainstorming and diving into what was on her heart, a central theme surfaced and we ran with it. As Chiyori.A prepares for her year long trip starting next month, she offers a glimpse into her struggles, fears, and ultimately, her source of comfort.
